Any kind of traveling show can be called a road show. If your band decides to play concerts in different cities all summer long, you can say you're doing a road show.

Most road shows involve music, but traveling theater companies, authors on book tours, and traveling museum exhibits also have road shows. Political campaigns that travel from state to state are also sometimes described as road shows. In the business world, a road show is a traveling series of financial meetings with potential investors.
